Our GeoDays (Geology Days) are a guided introduction to the geology and minerals of Nenthead and the North Pennines.
30th April at 11:00
28th May at 11:00
24th September at 11:00
We start with a visit to rock outcrops above ground, then we have a lunch break and follow this with a below ground visit to Carrs Mine.
We ask for a donation of £12 per person for this special excursion.
Trips are led by Society volunteers
The first part involves some rough tracks and ground. Appropriate footwear is recommended
The underground mine trip involes one short ladder climb and an outdoor walk to/from the mine entrance and exit - no babes in arms or baby buggies underground
The temperature underground is around 8C and it can be a little drippy and wet or muddy underfoot in places
We provide lamps and helmets (both children and adult sizes) and suggest that you wear outdoor clothing and footwear.
